It's a great day when our group of gals takes off in the side-by-sides and head into the desert for a day of exploring. We almost always find a herd of donkeys, sometimes large, more often small, that appears just as curious about us as we are about them. We turn off the motors and just watch. It's usually the donkeys who lose interest first.
The great thing about this group is that we have an appreciation for the surprising beauty of what some might consider a rather boring desert. Like finding images in the clouds, we find images in the stalks of cholla and in the saguaros. Strangely, it's the skeletons that we find most interesting as they take on a different type of uniqueness and beauty long after their outer skin has been weathered away.
Yep. It's a good day when a desert run is on our agenda.
